Recommendations:

Here is a partial listing of your first several recommendations.

Part I: Sustainability

  • Share your organization's achievements through client success stories, testimonials, quotes, etc. Third party endorsements credibly reinforce the vital qualities of the causes’ mission for donors, volunteers, strategic partners and media.
  • Include links to area staff on pages. Potential volunteers and donors will then have a way to get questions answered once they become engaged.
  • Provide option to subscribe to a newsletter and keep it updated. A great way to keep your passionate audience engaged is to create a regular monthly newsletter. Be sure to include the option to subscribe on your Home page and throughout.
  • Update your site regularly with latest news articles, events and media coverage. This will help keep your audience checking back often.
  • Click Here to View All

Part II: Website Usability

  • Create simple, to-the-point sentences. Have no more than 4 sentences in each paragraph. Make sure you add space between paragraphs and sections.
  • Make sure to batch similar topics together. Rather than scatter tons of information all over a page, create a logical sequence of information. This will help visitors easily find what they are looking for.
  • Include bold / call-out text throughout site. An easy way to do this is to add bold titles with bullets to pull out interesting facts.
  • Speak to the visitor and get them excited! Tell them what you need and want. Your website does an incredible job explaining your organization's mission, but it should also make visitors feel compelled to volunteer and donate. Have each page speak to the end-user.

    Introduction

The goal of this online tool is to help you attract more attention, donors and volunteers to your website and organization. In order to do so, you will need to think from a “visitor” perspective. Ideally, if possible, have someone outside of your organization take this eAssessment and compare results.

There are two parts to this eAssessment: Part I: Sustainability and Part II: Website Usability.

    • Sustainability is how well your website attracts and keeps visitors on your site long enough for them to appreciate the value of your program and become inspired to donate and volunteer.
    • Website Usability is how easy it is for others to locate, use and find the information they need on your website in an efficient and timely manner.

Both parts contain four sections with six visitor website responses each. As you evaluate each website response, recommendations and comments will be given.

Once both parts are complete, you will be taken to the Total Score page. A score will be given for each section along with a complete list of recommendations and suggested resources. At this time, you can print, share your results or bookmark this page for further reference.

We encourage you to start with Part I: Sustainability and then proceed to Part II: Website Usability.
